Intern Spotlight: Collin Fayas

Welcome back to the intern spotlight series. Carter Larson back again and for our fourth installation of this series, I talked with Tweet/Garot’s Engineering Intern, Collin Fayas. Collin is from De Pere, WI and is currently a senior at the Milwaukee School of Engineering majoring in mechanical engineering. Collin told me he is specifically interested in automotive engineering, which will be very clear later in the article. He also has an interest in engineering involving energy, which played a factor in his internship here at Tweet/Garot.

Collin has had a lot of past work experience; he worked at a hotel for five years and worked at a bible camp in the upper peninsula of Michigan for five years. This isn’t his first experience with an internship, in fact last year he had an internship with a company called Precision Plus, which is a company that manufactures screws, gears, spools and more. During his time here at Tweet/Garot, Collin has been creating drawings from calculations  other engineers have completed for three HVAC projects, including work at the Fox Cities Stadium, home of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Collin hopes to learn something new during this internship that he hasn’t during past experiences and gain from the classroom.

One thing I learned that Collin and I have in common is a history of running. Collin told me he has run track and cross country throughout high school and still does currently at MSOE. Along with running, Collin’s hobbies include automobile racing, along with building and working on cars. Collin said his favorite musical artist is Danny Gokey and his favorite song is “Haven’t Seen it Yet” by Gokey. Collin stated that he doesn’t watch TV or movies usually which was quite shocking to me, but he did indicate that “Cars” was his favorite movie. Finally, for a favorite food Collin chose lasagna. Thank you all for tuning in again.  Our next intern spotlight will be out early next week!
