Position Summary:
The Buyer supports procurement by, including sourcing suppliers, quoting products/services, managing purchase orders, negotiating terms/prices, and ensuring timely delivery of products/services required for manufacturing and/or projects. The Buyer works closely with operations, project/account managers, estimators, field supervisors, and engineers to ensure all needs are met on schedule and within budget.. This role also helps improve purchasing processes.
Description of Duties:
• Work with the Supply Chain Manager, Operations, Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and Engineers to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services.
• Identify and evaluate suppliers, ensuring quality materials/services are acquired at competitive prices.
• Generate and process purchase orders and ensure they are compliant with material/service specifications requested.
• Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize efficiency while maintaining defined standards.
• Monitor the status of orders and coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
• Communicate order status to Internal Clients.
• Coordinate with the Operations team to track material usage, inventory levels, and replenish stock as necessary to prevent shortages or delays.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and delivery confirmations. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
• Lead and/or participate in identifying and implementing material cost savings opportunities.
• Resolve any discrepancies or issues with suppliers, including late deliveries, damaged goods, or non-conforming materials.
• Stay informed on industry trends, material price fluctuations, and supplier innovations to contribute to best procurement decisions.
• Additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain, preferably in the manufacturing, construction, or mechanical contracting industry.
• Experience with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) software.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability and desire to regularly work within a cross-functional team to develop business solutions.
• Demonstrate problem solving and logical analysis skills in complex or time-critical situations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
