Position Summary:
The HVAC Building Automation Systems Engineer designs and produces control drawing submittals used by electricians and technicians for the installation of HVAC Building Automation Systems. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to navigate technical project documentation and equipment submittals to extract critical information. Working alongside the current Controls Engineer, responsibilities include preparing control diagrams, schematics, equipment schedules, and all necessary documentation to support high-quality and efficient installations.

About Building Automation: Building Automation is the centralized control of a building’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and other systems through a building management system or building automation system (BAS). The objectives of building automation are improved occupant comfort, efficient operation of building systems, reduction in energy consumption and operating costs, and improved life cycle of utilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Designs HVAC Building Automation Systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, electrical schematics, network layouts, bill of material and sequence of operations as required.
• Coordinates the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
• Order all control system components.
• Provide project deliverables to the project manager.
• Work with project team from deliverable handoff through job closeout
• Create AS-Built control drawings and O&M manuals upon receiving project redlines and as-builts from project team at completion of projects.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field), or equivalent technical experience in HVAC systems, building automation, or mechanical contracting environments.
• Five years of HVAC mechanical system knowledge and experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand design and construction documents.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering sequence of operations.
• Ability to manage and coordinate project workflow
• Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers.
• Knowledge and experience with electronic control devices and functionality.
• Knowledge and experience of AC motors and drives.
• AC & DC electrical concepts and measurement knowledge.
• Fundamentals of current, voltage and resistance.
• Proven electro-mechanical aptitude (based on previous experience and/or education) and user-level PC/software skills.
• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Visio experience preferred).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
