Position Summary:
The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality support for mechanical contracting projects. This role involves developing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and overseeing inventory to meet project requirements. The Procurement Manager collaborates closely with project management and operations teams to ensure materials are sourced in line with project timelines and budgets. Additionally, this position is responsible for driving cost efficiencies, ensuring compliance, and mitigating supply chain risks to support the company’s long-term success and operational excellence.

Additionally, the Procurement Manager will lead and direct a Procurement Agent, providing guidance, oversight, and mentorship to ensure efficient procurement practices across the department.

Description of Duties:
• Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best quality and pricing for materials and services.
• Develop procurement strategies based on project specifications, timelines, and budgets. Ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules while mitigating risks.
• Direct and oversee the Procurement Agent, providing guidance on daily tasks, supporting their professional development, and ensuring adherence to procurement processes and best practices.
• Collaborate with project managers, cost controller, and scheduler to ensure that all purchases align with project budgets and cost control measures.
• Monitor material usage and inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock, ensuring that materials are available as needed for project timelines.
• Evaluate supplier performance regularly based on quality, delivery, and cost effectiveness. Work with underperforming suppliers to improve outcomes or identify new sources.
• Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of materials. Resolve any discrepancies or issues with suppliers.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and invoices.
• Work closely with project teams, including project managers, engineers, and site supervisors, to understand material needs, project timelines, and specifications.
• Continuously monitor and review market trends, material prices, and supply chain conditions to optimize procurement efficiency and cost savings.
• Identify potential supply chain risks and work proactively to mitigate disruptions. Ensure contingency plans are in place for critical supplies and services.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing, preferably within the construction or mechanical contracting industry.
• Strong experience with contract negotiation and vendor management.
• Knowledge of construction project management
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on cost control and budgeting.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
