QA/QC Piping Specialist

Position Summary:
The QA/QC Piping Specialist is responsible for ensuring that mechanical construction projects meet all quality standards and specifications. This role involves developing and implementing quality control plans, conducting inspections, and verifying that all materials, installations, and workmanship comply with project requirements and industry regulations. The QA/QC Specialist works closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure that mechanical systems are installed and function correctly, addressing any quality issues that arise during the project lifecycle. This role is critical in maintaining the reputation of the company for delivering high-quality mechanical solutions within the construction industry.

Description of Duties:
• Develop and implement quality control plans for mechanical construction projects, ensuring that they align with industry standards, project specifications, and client requirements.
• Conduct on-site inspections of materials, equipment, and installations to verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, and relevant codes. Oversee testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and audits, including test results, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions. Ensure that all quality-related documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, ISO) and company policies. Verify that mechanical installations meet local, state, and federal regulations.
• Identify and document any non-conformances or deficiencies, and work with project teams to develop and implement corrective actions to address quality issues.
• Review and verify equipment submittals to ensure proper piping configurations and installations are accurately reflected in the project model. Confirm that all piping meets project specifications, industry standards, and design requirements, coordinating with the engineering team to address any discrepancies or necessary adjustments.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to ensure all quality standards are understood and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor the quality of work performed by vendors and subcontractors to ensure it meets the required specifications. Conduct vendor audits as necessary.
• Provide training to site personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices for mechanical system installations.
• Conduct final inspections and testing on completed mechanical systems before project handover to ensure all systems are functional and meet quality expectations.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements:
• Trade experience or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience in quality control may be considered.
• 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance/quality control, preferably in mechanical contracting or the construction industry.
• Familiarity with mechanical Piping systems and related standards and codes.
• Exerienced working in a virtual design model
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in quality control and project management software.
