Bay Mills Hotel and Resort

Project Information

Tweet Garot was contracted as the mechanical provider for a three-story waterfront resort expansion to the Bay Mills Hotel and Resort in Brimley, MI. The expansion included adding 134 additional rooms with balconies, a deli, a spa with massage therapy rooms, a pool with a splash pad, hot tubs, a nail salon, a fitness center, an arcade, a conference space, and a storefront.

Tweet Garot managed the plumbing scope of this new addition to the resort. The following systems were installed to properly serve the new rooms and facilities:
• 18,000 feet of copper domestic water piping
• 9,000 feet of cast iron sanitary/storm piping above grade
• 3,500 feet of PVC sanitary/storm piping below grade

Tweet Garot’s team was instrumental in the success of this project. The team worked vigorously on BIM coordination to ensure the installation of these systems went as smoothly as possible. Our virtual construction group modeled 100% of the piping on this project for accurate prefab made in our shop. The following percentages of pipe were cut and prefabbed in our manufacturing facility:
• 95% of all inwall copper water piping and water mains
• 95% of all cast iron sanitary inwall and above ceiling piping
• 75% of all cast iron storm piping
• 75% of all underground PVC

Being located near a large body of water along with the necessity for cast iron pipe to be utilized posed as challenges to the proper installation of the resorts plumbing systems. Our team’s BIM and prefabrication efforts proved to be extremely beneficial in mitigating these issues and delivering on the owners’ expectations of their renovated mechanical system.
