Weston Unit 4

The Weston Unit 4 project consisted of adding a fourth unit to the Wisconsin Public Service site in Schofield, WI. The new supercritical pulverized coal-fired baseload unit will produce 530 MW of electricity utilizing advanced clean coal technology. Tweet/Garot Mechanical was contracted to perform all the HVAC work on the project.

The Weston installation consisted of two 12’ wide x 144’ long Gravity Roof Ventilators (GRV’s), and HVAC systems in the Control Room, Battery Charger/Inverter Room, Electrical Room, and Water Sample Room. 16 large roof supply fans were installed on the highest point of the roof. 149 fans (20,000 CFM) were installed at various locations on the outer skin of the Boiler to work along with the GRV’s to ventilate the Boiler. Tweet/Garot was also awarded a separate $500,000 installation contract for HVAC and building ventilation in the plant’s outbuildings.
